For all these kids getting into the colleges of their dreams:
Look man.
I’m really happy for you and I am being completely serious. Really, give yourself a pat on the back. I mean really give yourself a pat on the back.
Yes, thank God for everything he’s done for you and how much he’s blessed you. But YOU worked for this. Give glory to God in all you do, but don’t be afraid to give yourself some credit. I mean come on, you worked hard for almost four years now and I think you deserve some praise for that as well. Yes, God blessed you. Yes, God was with you every step of the way. But God didn’t do the studying, God didn’t take the tests, God didn’t write the papers, God didn’t do all the extra-curricular activities and work that you did.
This might sound ridiculous to some people, but I have a feeling that God agrees with me 110% on this one. Take a little glory for yourself, because you earned it.
This is one of my favorite quotes, and is completely relevant:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
